via Blabbermouth Slash's debut solo album, Slash, will be released in Japan on March 24 via Universal Music.
A special edition of the CD will include a bonus DVD featuring making-of-the-album footage and a free poster in the first pressing.
Slash is scheduled for release in the US on April 6. The CD will be made available in Europe via Roadrunner Records.
Slash will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a UK media partner — the special-interest media group Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution, the standard album release will be preceded by a "Fan Pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly collectable, 132-page special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. This will be the first format of the album available anywhere in the world.
The partnership is a first for music and media industries, marking the first-time a major new album has been released this way. The partnership ensures that Slash's new album is available through over 4,000 UK retailers that stock Classic Rock — sidestepping the issue of dwindling high street music outlets and top 20 only stocking in supermarkets. Classic Rock is one of the UK's biggest rock music magazines and this year recorded its eighth consecutive circulation increase, the only paid-for music magazine to grow.
The Slash "Fan Pack" featuring his debut solo album from Roadrunner Records, along with a 132-page "Classic Rock Presents: Slash" special will have a cover price of £14.99.
Among the guests appearing on the album are Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie's (aka Stacy Ann Ferguson), Dave Grohl, Flea, Chris Cornell, Duff McKagan, Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Nicole Scherzinger, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Ozzy Osbourne, who contributes vocals to the first single. My humble attempt at deciphering the lyrics (not official):
With the horses that you ride, And the feelings left inside, Comes a time you need to leave all that behind, Well they claim they'd like to know, And they'll fight you there to go, And they're gatherin' around for all the show,
Well there is a reward, To live and die by the sword, Well they tried to complicate you, But you left it all behind, All the worldly possessions, Are left for recollections, And finally it's all gone!
They're releasing all the hounds, What is lost can still be found, When you're walking with your fear down on the ground, Well there's those who choose to run Following the setting sun, And now it seems the journey's has begun,
Well there is a reward, To live and die by the sword, Well they tried to complicate you, But you left it all behind, All the worldly possessions, Are left for recollections, And finally it's all gone!
With the horses that you ride, And the feelings left inside, there's a time you need to leave it all behind,
Well there is no reward, To live and die by the sword, Well they tried to complicate you, But you left it all behind, All the worldly possessions, Are left for recollections, And finally it's all gone!

"One of the benefits of being the Music Director of WAAF, is hearing new music WAY before anyone else! Today I got a chance to hear some of the new Slash album that will be released in March of 2010.
We should have the new single (which is going to feature Ozzy on lead vocals) in January!
This song was AWESOME!
And, the lyrics are going to piss off Axl & Black Sabbath!" [Mistress Carrie]
With the speculation about special guests continuing in earnest, Slash revealed to MusicRadar that the one artist he couldn't pin down to play on his forthcoming solo album was The White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather star Jack White.
Slash's eponymous solo album will be released early in 2010 on Roadrunner, with Classic Rock magazine set to bundle the CD with a special collectible issue a full four weeks before it is available online or in record stores.
"Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."
MusicRadar spoke to Slash yesterday following the Classic Rock Awards and heard the album, but for now their lips are sealed.
They can tell us that the supporting cast of guest musicians is very impressive indeed, and includes rock legends, pop starlets and some genuine surprises. But not Jack White.
Slash told them, "I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn't want to sing. He said 'I'll play drums, I'll play guitar, but I don't wanna sing.' He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."
Keep an eye on MusicRadar in the very near future for a track-by-track guide to the Slash solo album from the man himself, plus his thoughts on what makes a killer guitar riff and his favourite riffs of all time as part of their forthcoming guitar-tastic Riff Week. MusicRadar
I guess she figures: "Why put Richard Fortus on your record, when you can just use the 'real deal?'"
Music producer BigChris Flores released some great news via Twitter! Looks like Rihanna is taking her rock edge to a new level by working with rock royalty.
The music producer updated his Twitter with the following messages:
- Got L.A. Reid coming to the studio with Slash today, to lay guitars on a new Rihanna song.
Andrew Stockdale, lead singer of Melbourne rockers Wolfmother, spoke to the BBC News about a track he recorded with guitarist Slash.
The song will be included on Slash's forthcoming solo album which is tentatively scheduled for release in February or March 2010.
Stockdale, who lends his vocals to the untitled song has described its sound as "relentless".
He added, "Slash is an iconic figure in rock 'n' roll history ... It's an honor."
Explaining about how the collaboration came about Stockdale said, "at the start of the year Slash contacted my manager and asked if I was interested in singing on his record. Maybe because I've got that old school delivery it matches what he was trying to do. Guns N' Roses in the '90s, they brought back the danger in rock 'n' roll."
Ozzy Osbourne, and Blink 182's Travis Barker are also scheduled to take part.
Slash will appear at West Fest, a free concert to be held in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on this Sunday October 25. Ray Manzarek from The Doors, Denny Laine from The Moody Blues, and The Alameda Allstars, Greg Allman’s band are also scheduled to perform.

"We recorded a killer last minute addition to the record with Myles Kennedy last weekend!" - Slash, February 16, 2010
Slash's debut solo album, Slash, will be released in Japan on March 24 (Universal), in the US on April 6 (EMI), and on April 7 in the UK, bundled with a collectible "Slash" edition of Classic Rock Magazine. The CD standard UK edition of the CD will be released May 10 (Roadrunner).

A special Japanese edition of the CD will include a bonus DVD featuring making-of-the-album footage and a free poster in the first pressing. "Sahara" is the bonus-track on the Japanese editions. The Japanese are also releasing an SHM CD version.
You can pre-order the Australian edition on iTunes which includes "Chains and Shackles" and "Paradise City" here. The US iTunes store is offering "Mother Maria" and the English version of "Sahara."
Slash's brother, Ash, designed the logo for Slash's name on the album cover. The cover art itself, was produced from a painting by Ron English, a prominent Pop Surrealist artist and friend of Slash.
The first single, "Sahara" was released in Japan on November 11. "Sahara" debuted at #4 on the Japanese charts. Slash's tour will coincide with the album release.
The first worldwide single is "By the Sword" with Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale.
The album was produced by Eric Valentine (Smash Mouth, Queens of the Stone Age, The All-American Rejects) and recorded entirely analog. The mastering was done at Sterling Sound by George Marino.
The allure of these rollicking Slash & Friends concerts brings to mind the imperious message from old late-night TV pitchmen: “How do we do it? Volume, volume, volume!”
Quality, quantity, high spirits and jacked-up amperage made for a late-night carnival at Bare Pool Lounge at The Mirage late last night, a showcase that spilled into the morning with an after-party at Jet. The all-star rock ’n’ roll exercise hosted by the former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses summoned the old (dueling iconic guitarists Rick Nielsen and Joe Perry), bold (Courtney Love, tossing aside typical stage protocol to read lyrics to the gender-unspecific “20th Century Boy”) and beautiful (the wholly captivating Nicole Scherzinger, the leather-and-lace encased frontwoman for Pussycat Dolls).
As for the latest SlashFest, it hardly mattered that over the past few weeks, the event’s lineup experienced more drops than Terrell Owens during last Sunday’s Bills-Saints game (Rob Zombie, Jason Bonham, Tommy Lee and announced emcee Kiefer Sutherland were among the fall-out boys). The show drew ample star power anyway, and of course the requisite oddities, such as an onstage visit from Slash’s wife, Perla. The stormy spouse and Slash’s apparent voice of reason strode onstage in a beaded black corset adorned with long tassels over each side of her chest, snug black shorts and lace stockings. All dolled up, in other words. She then quoted a dead woman, Anna Nicole Smith, by asking, “How do you like my BAH-dee?”
We like it just enough! But not so much to offend Slash, the evening’s BFF.
Following are more “hooky” riffs from a crisp and loud evening in VegasVille:
*The vocalist for much of the evening was Las Vegas native Franky Perez, whose look has matured to the point where he looks like the father of the guy who released the promising “Poor Man’s Son” in 2003. The last time I’d seen Perez perform was that year when he opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd at The Orleans Arena. He roared through “Whipping Post” that night, and again last night, along with AC/DC's “Highway to Hell” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” Dressed entirely in black, shedding the shades and jacket in favor of a tank top late in the show, Perez obviously relished performing with the high-level stars like Perry, Nielsen, Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan, who swapped spots on the stage over the two-hour show. At one point, he asked if anyone was from Las Vegas (a few among the crowd of about 650 cheered) and then he gave a call-out to his alma mater, Bonanza High School. Not your typical rock-show moment, eh? In the late stages, Perez also wore what appeared to be an old red-and-blue Las Vegas Stars hat from about 20 years ago.
It was fun watching Perez work it out onstage again. There was a time when he was at least as promising an artist as The Killers. It’ll be interesting to see if he can, as we say, parlay this fortuitous gig into something he can sustain.
*The Joe Perry Project opened the show and performed a song Aerosmith ignored during its visit to the MGM Grand Garden Arena a couple of months ago, a reggae version of “Dream On.” Perry said that version of the song was requested by an individual who booked the band to perform during a cruise, and Perry’s response was something like, “Forget you, cruise boy,” but it was a pretty cool rendition.
*Jot down Scherzinger’s name on that list of performers you don’t want to follow. She’s an exotically beautiful, easy-on-the-eyes, hard-on-the-ears performer able to share the stage with anyone (just in the past month, she’s appeared with both Gossy-Goss and Slash). By the time she finished with a full-force take on “Whole Lotta Love,” Love walked to the mic and said, “I just got my a** handed to me. I’ve gotta follow that?” Give Love credit for conveying that revelation, at least. She’s no dummy.
*Anyone clamoring for a meltdown by Love came away disappointed. She sipped from a glass filled with orange fluid and produced a lyric sheet to make it through “20th Century Boy,” a move I’d seen only once before, when Pink unfolded sheets of lyrics for “Rock and Roll” during the opening-night party at Empire Ballroom four years ago. But Love still has that haggard-sexy act pretty much perfected. She might not look or sound great each time out, but no one looks or sounds quite like her. At least, no one famous.
*Notable jams: Nielsen, who should be our next mayor, played on the full-group effort of Cheap Trick’s “Surrender.” Perry returned for “Toys in the Attic.” Sen Dog of Cypress Hill joined Perez on a blistering “Walk This Way.” McKagan and Sorum (who seemed to be in full, stroppy revelry by the time he hit the stage late in the show) joined Slash in a mini-Guns ’N Roses reunion for “It’s So Easy” (which I’ve always felt would make a great ballad) and an everyone-in-the-pool “Paradise City” to finish the show.
Slash N' Friends will play the Mirage Hotel and Casino tonight.
The line-up for the Mirage gig is: Tommy Clufetos on drums, Johnny Griparic on bass, Ted "Zig Zag" Andreadis on keys, Slash and John 5 on guitar, and Franky Perez, vocals. That's basically the house band.
Slash's special guests tonight are (more or less in this order): Rocco Deluca, Nicole Scherzinger, Courtney Love, Rick Nielson, Robin Zander and Joe Perry. Also, Matt Sorum is jamming a couple songs and there will be some other surprises.
The Joe Perry Project is playing as well, it's going to be a loud night.
Tickets are available through Mirage Entertainment on the Mirage website.

California Chronicle Duff McKagan proved he had an eye for figures when he was invited to a wild party at the legendary Playboy mansion. But the US rock star wasn't just eyeing up the scantily-clad Bunny Girls lounging around the home of millionaire Hugh Hefner.
The bassist impressed the sex industry mogul with his business knowledge and landed a job writing a financial column for Playboy magazine.
Duff said: "I went to business school and got my finance degree. It's an interesting time to be writing a financial column. It's great fun and keeps my brain ticking over."
Duff shot to fame playing with two of the biggest bands in rock history - Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, so he's one of the few rockers equipped to keep tabs on the royalties he earns.
He said: "I keep a handle on where all our money goes. When Guns blew up we began creating huge income - not just for us but for other people. Musicians have no training for things like business managers and tax credits. I didn't want to get ripped off so I learned about it."
Duff brings his new band Loaded to the O2 Academy in Glasgow on October 17 supporting Black Stone Cherry.
The group will promote new single "Mother's Day," a track from their album, Sick.
Duff said: "I like the feeling of forward motion a tour gives you [everything] from the cameraderie of a band to the feedback from the audience."
He has fond memories of playing in Scotland with Velvet Revolver, the supergroup formed with ex-Guns' bandmates Slash and Matt Sorum.
He told me: "Our show at the SECC in Glasgow in 2004 is one of my three favourite gigs of my entire career. The crowd was figuratively carrying us on their shoulders. I felt so in the moment. I'd put it up there with when Guns played at Rock In Rio in 1991."
But Duff has promised we've not seen the last of Velvet Revolver.
In 2008, singer Scott Weiland announced on stage at the SECC he was quitting the band but Duff says plans are in place to reform the band next autumn.
He said: "We've got a top 10 list of singers we'd like to try out, and enough material for a great new record."
"Oh untetherable bird of the blue! Oh unpluckable flower of the moon!"
That's not a line from the new Gallows record. It's the work of Hayden Thorpe, hooting and howling vocalist with Wild Beasts, whose second album Two Dancers has sent traffic to thesaurus.com through the roof as music journalists seek out synonyms for "grandiloquent".
There seems to be a taste for this sort of thing at the moment - a pervasive appetite for camp excess.
Florence And The Machine's Lungs picked up glowing reviews, despite being so over-produced as to make the "Ride Of The Valkyries" seem subtle. At Latitude last month the line-up was laden with artists – Of Montreal, Patrick Wolf – performing between-song masques while dressed in outfits that would have been regarded as "outre" by the denizens of Studio 54.
Musically, though, these artists can hardly be called over-the-top. Not when there are people like Axl Rose in the world. Rose famously burned through $20 million recording Guns N'Roses' Chinese Democracy, which Rolling Stone called a "great, audacious, unhinged and uncompromising hard-rock record", and absolutely everyone else called a load of rancid old dogwank.
A choir, strings, Mellotron, a bloke playing guitar inside a chicken-coop: Chinese Democracy had everything. Except tunes, and soul: two things no amount of money and time can guarantee.
Then again, who didn't have a sneaking respect for the sheer, insane ambition of it?
Everyone loves a grand folly. Rock would be a drabber place if it weren't for the nagging inner voice that makes a musician think: "Write a sprawling concept album based on the tale of Gawain And The Green Knight? Why yes, that's a fantastic idea."
Call it the Meat Loaf gene: the eternal, ill-advised desire to go one louder.
Something like this presumably gripped Suede's Brett Anderson while recording Dog Man Star and convinced him it would be a wise idea to augment "Still Life" - a song that started life as a beautifully understated acoustic ballad – with an 80-piece orchestra, and the kind of vocal hysterics that would make Celine Dion think: jeez, tone it down a bit, will you?
Again, you've got to admire the spirit, if not the end result. It takes a special kind of delusional maniac who, when in the studio overseeing the final mix, surveys the winking LEDs of a dangerously overloaded, 90-track, everything-in-the-red mixing desk, and solemnly tells the engineer: needs more alpenhorn.
By way of tribute to these lunatics, then, what are the most ridiculously overblown albums ever?
