Lea Black Sounds Off On The Sarah Palin Circus

http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Lea+Black+Real+Housewives+Miami+Visit+SiriusXM+B_sDhjgGmizl.jpgReal Housewives of Miami star Lea Black is trying to prove that the Bravo Housewives are good for more than just cocktails and catfights by getting political in a self-penned opinion piece posted this morning on the Huffington Post. Who's she targeting? Duh, Sarah Palin!

"Sarah Palin is the sideshow in the circus that everyone wants to watch, but that most people don't take seriously," Black told us when we chatted with her earlier today. "The Republican Party has become a circus and she's the sideshow act that everyone likes to laugh at, not with."

Black also thinks the Sarah Palin's Alaska star should stick to reality TV and stay out of politics, adding, "I think she makes for great entertainment, but I don't think she can be taken seriously for leading a country."

As for Black's onscreen drama with Bravo's newest group of Housewives gals?

"You're not going to see any table-flipping," she said. "But if you tune in tomorrow night you may see some pig-flipping."

Huh?! Black declined to elaborate, but we have a feeling it has something to do with a promo clip of housewife Alexia Echevarria's husband butchering a whole pig in the middle of their own kitchen.

You'd think they'd have the hired help take care of that.

Are Miami's Housewives Worried About Editing?

http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd427/teenmomgossip/9061bdfe.jpg

Camille Grammer blamed her bad image on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Bravo's tricky editing -- so are the women from the Real Housewives of Miami worried they'll fall victim to the show's editors too?

"I think you have to give people the material," Miami's Lea Black told reporters in a conference call, "And if they edit you ... I mean, as long as it’s in context, I don’t think you can blame anyone but yourself."

Black, a Miami socialite married to a criminal defense attorney, adds "No one can force you to say things that you say. Now if you’re making a joke and you’re saying something and it’s taking it out of context and put into a mean spirit then I might have an issue about the editing."

Black and co-star Alexia Echevarria say they haven't seen the final cut of the show yet, with Alexia telling reporters "it’s been a while, it’s been almost a year since we filmed but - so it’s going to be interesting."

Get Real With New 'Miami Housewife' Lea Black

http://img.poptower.com/pic-44281/lea-black.jpg?d=600The countdown has begun until the Real Housewives of Miami airs (10 p.m Tuesday on Bravo). Can’t wait? Gawkers can glimpse the well-coiffed castmates — PR diva Marysol Patton, socialite Lea Black, art curator Adriana Sidi, mag editor Alexia Echevarria and basketball wives Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice — Monday night at Bravo’s red carpet launch party at the Eden Roc Renaissance hotel.

We are chatting with the ladies one by one, and on a recent conference call, we caught up with 56-year-old philanthropist Black, who met her husband, famed defense attorney Roy Black, when she was a juror on the William Kennedy Smith trial in 1991.

Why did you want to do the show?
At the time I didn’t; at the time I wasn’t sure. And now I think it’s become a phenomenon. I think Bravo has created a pop-culture phenomenon so now I’m happy that I did it. Live life, see what happens, take your chances, go for it.

What kind of drama can we expect?
I wouldn’t say that it’s hair-pulling, table-flipping drama. I would say that it’s a different type of drama, but I think people would be fascinated with the characters. Many of them are very witty, and everybody has their own quirky personalities. It’ll be all about Miami, how fabulous Miami is, the best of Miami. A lot of the best and the worst of all of us.

Is there anyone who can be labeled the b-word?
None of the women in this show particularly go out of their way to step on anyone. But if anyone did get stepped on then more likely than not it was someone calling them out on something that perhaps they deserved to be called out on. It certainly was never in a mean way that I thought.

Are your friends and family ready for the scrutiny?
I didn’t tell anybody that I did the show until I finished it, and then I denied it up until Bravo said that they had announced it. So I’m getting a lot of people mad at me. I guess I was shy about it. My husband’s law partner, I think he’s ready to call 911 for oxygen.

Did you do anything on camera that you’re worried about?
I’m worried about the fact that I just threw myself together and didn’t do my hair and makeup and just grabbed clothes out of my closet and ran and did this stuff and didn’t take the visual part of it seriously. Because [the show] came at a time when I just came off four months of working 24/7 for the [Black’s Annual Gala] and then straight into that. I just didn’t have time to catch my breath and organize my life. [Also] I am positive there are many times I opened my big mouth when I should have kept it shut. My life is sort of an open book, and my husband is a public person, and I kind have been scrutinized already. Hopefully I didn’t do or say anything that would embarrass myself or my husband or his clients or anything like that.
